European Regional Development Fund in Bremen (ERDF)

The ERDF – European Regional Development Fund – finances programmes in the fields of regional development, economic change and enhanced competitiveness.

Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labour and Europe Bremen

The ministry is responsible for all matters related to economic affairs, labour, Europe, and international business policies of the German Federal State of Bremen.

German Aerospace Center Space Administration (DLR)

DLR is Germany’s national research centre for aeronautics and space. Its extensive research and development work in aeronautics, space, transportation and energy is integrated into national and international cooperative ventures.

AVIASPACE BREMEN e.V.

AVIASPACE BREMEN e.V. is an association of dedicated companies and application-oriented research institutes in the Federal State of The Free Hanseatic City of Bremen and the surrounding areas. The network implements the aeronautics and space industries sector strategy of the Federal State of Bremen.

BAB (Starthaus)

BAB (Bremer Aufbau-Bank GmbH), the development bank for Bremen and Bremerhaven initiated the Starthaus. It provides support during the establishment and early development phases, creates contacts to the state of Bremen’s start-up network, and designs and coordinates the various subsidy modules.

Airbus Defence and Space GmbH Bremen is the European Competence Centre for astronautics, launchers and space robotics. It is also the Airbus national competence centre for SCRUM and Agile Engineering as well as Lean Start-up Methods.

The systems specialist OHB System AG is one of the leading OEMs in European space with its core business comprising low-orbiting and geostationary satellites.

ArianeGroup

ArianeGroup is a joint venture of Airbus Group and the French group Safran, with its three core businesses: aerospace (orbital propulsion systems and equipment), defence and security with the objective of development and subsequent production of Ariane 6.

Fraunhofer IFAM

The Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials IFAM in Bremen is one of the leading independent research organisations in Europe in the fields of “Adhesive Bonding Technology and “ Surfaces” and “Shaping and Functional Materials”.

Institute of Environmental Physics Bremen (IUP), University Bremen

IUP is a renowned research institute comprising several research departments including the Department of Oceanography which investigates changes in climate-relevant processes in the ocean.

Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI), Bremerhaven

The Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research is located in Bremerhaven and employs more than 1000 people. As an internationally respected centre of expertise on polar and marine research, the Alfred Wegener Institute is one of the very few scientific institutions in the world that are equally active in the Arctic and Antarctic.

AES System GmbH

AES is a highly innovative SME specialising in engineering services and bespoke products for the aviation and space industries. In R&D, for example, they are currently working on a research project titled “Aluminum Harnesses for Satellites” (AlSa) using aluminum cables as power supply lines, in satellites.

Aerospace Technologie (DSI-AS) GmbH

DSI Aerospace Technologie GmbH (DSI-AS) is a SME located in Bremen, whic h provides highspeed electronics for airborne and space applications. The areas of activity are dedicated to the engineering and development of solutions for computers, information technologies, control systems and advanced communication systems.
