ESA Business Incubation Centre (BIC) Bavaria offers an incubation programme that provides financial and technical assistance to young companies seeking to make use of technologies, applications, and services from the aerospace industry to start up their business in other areas of the economy.
Get support from excellent aerospace, research, and financial partners
ESA BIC Bavaria - managed by Anwendungszentrum GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen (AZO) - is now located in Oberpfaffenhofen, Nürnberg and Berchtesgadener Land. The ESA BIC Oberpfaffenhofen headquarters was opened on 3 August 2009 by four partners: the European Space Agency (ESA), the Free State of Bavaria, the German Aerospace Center (DLR), and the local bank Kreissparkasse München Starnberg Ebersberg.
The two ESA BIC branch offices in nearby Nürnberg and Berchtesgadener Land were established in September 2011. The Nürnberg location has the support of the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS and the local bank Sparkasse Nürnberg, while the Economic Development Corporation Berchtesgadener Land mbH and Sparkasse Berchtesgadener Land have been acquired as partners of the second branch office.
Benefit from the extensive incubation programme for up to two years
Startup firms that utilise satellite navigation and communication, Earth observation, robotics, mechatronics, or other aerospace-related technologies can apply for admission to ESA BIC Bavaria at one of the three Bavarian locations. If accepted, they can take part in the centre's extensive incubation programme for up to two years. This programme includes the aforementioned financial and technical assistance, as well as individual coaching services and networking activities.
