Quantum Systems and ReActive Robotics win 1st phase of 2016 Munich business plan competition

On the 3 March 2016 ten high tech founding teams were announced as the best startups in the first phase of 2016 Munich business plan competition. The winners advance innovations in various new industries such as medical technology, cleantech, mobility, aerospace and electrical engineering.
137 teams had participated in the first phase of the three-phase Munich business plan competition. Our incubatees Quantum Systems and ReActive Robotics made it into top 10 with their exceptional business cases and were each endowed with a 500 cash prize. We keep our fingers crossed for them for the next phases of the Munich business plan competition.

Quantum Systems GmbH
Quantum-Systems develops and manufactures unmanned aerial systems for professional civil use. The transition aircraft Quantum VRT provides outstanding flight characteristics and a high payload capacity by combining the capabilities of a fixed-wing aircraft with a multicopter. After vertical take-off the pivoting rotors enable a seamless transition to aerodynamic - and thus energy-efficient - horizontal flight. Quantum VRT also lands vertically after once again pivoting its rotors.

The Quantum includes an automatic flight control system that stabilizes and controls its different flight modes, including vertical take-off, landing, hovering, and transitioning to and from horizontal flight mode.

In summary, Quantum-Systems has achieved a highly efficient, aerodynamic design for optimal horizontal flight without having to make compromises to facilitate conventional take-off and landing

ReActive Robotics GmbH
ReActive Robotics will design, manufacture, and sell rehabilitation robots that automate gait rehabilitation in the ICU at a very early stage, just 48 hours after the onset of neurological injury or joint replacement surgery. Our devices will attach directly to the patient's bed, eliminating the need for dangerous transfers onto separate devices. They will be used for the gait rehabilitation of neurological patients following a central nervous injury and by orthopedic patients after joint replacement.

Our mission is to enable clinicians, particularly in intensive care, to provide the best possible care to neurological and orthopedic patients and help them recover from their injuries. We aim to revolutionize the way gait rehabilitation is performed and aid patients across the globe in regaining their independence after a life-changing injury or surgery.

ESA Business Incubation Centre Bavaria
Quantum Systems is incubated at the ESA BIC Bavaria from September 2015 to August 2017 and ReActive Robotics is incubated at the ESA BIC Bavaria from February 2015 to February 2017. The ESA BIC Bavaria seeks entrepreneurs using space technologies in a non-space environment. That doesn't mean rocket science, but applies to multiple application fields such as navigation and positioning, communications techniques, Earth observation, materials, processes, signals or robotics.

ESA's Business Incubation Centre Bavaria was launched in 2009 and is since managed by Anwendungszentrum GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen (AZO). ESA BIC Bavaria and its renowned partners - DLR, Airbus Defense and Space, Fraunhofer IIS and Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft Berchtesgadener Land - provide startups with financial and technical support at four branch offices: Oberpfaffenhofen, Ottobrunn, Nürnberg and Berchtesgadener Land.
