Meet three ESA BIC Bavaria Start-ups at the Mobile World Congress

The Space App Camp Barcelona will invite five teams to Barcelona in late February to enhance their existing mobile services with Earth observation data from the Copernicus Space Programme and to integrate it into the SAP HANA Cloud Platform. Among other companies ESA BIC Bavaria Incubatee Building Radar and ESA BIC Bavaria Alumni WxFusion were selected to join. The teams will present their improved services at the Mobile World Congress from 22-24 February - meet them at the Mobile World Congress Hall 3, stand 3M41.

Furthermore ESA BIC Bavaria alumni Greenspider will be represented with their product SMASH - a small device for smart sharing solution - meet him at Hall 2 Stand 2N60.

The Space App Camp Barcelonas initiated by the European Space Agency - European Space Research Institute (ESA ESRIN), supported by the ESA Transfer Technology Program Office (ESA TTPO) and sponsored by SAP, is organised by AZO.

Building Radar GmbH
Building Radar is incubated at the ESA BIC Bavaria from June 2015 to May 2017. Building Radar supplies verified leads on construction sales so the sales team can focus on selling rather than researching and verifying leads themselves. Use their data analytics platform to stay up to date on all the construction projects in your neighbourhood and around the world. Track your competitors' next moves, or evaluate new strategic partnerships.

They detect new construction projects months earlier than the competitors, which enables you to make your sales first. They also verify lead specs, such as construction phase and building size, so you never call at the wrong time again. Finally, they connect all the dots in their data to provide real-time intelligence on commercial real estate so you can strategically organise your team.

Greenspider GmbH
Greenspider was incubated at the ESA BIC Bavaria from May 2013 to April 2015. Greenspider develops technology solutions for sustainable mobility, in particular electromobility and vehicle-sharing schemes that meet the needs of citizens and municipalities in reducing urban traffic and CO2 emissions.

Greenspider's innovative technology consists of a miniaturized and low-consumption device with embedded satellite tracking, machine-to-machine communication, and near-field communication. This facilitates easy interaction between users and their vehicles and innovative services for electric vehicle sharing, such as mobile subscriptions and payment.

WxFusion was incubated at the ESA BIC Bavaria from September 2013 to September 2015. They are able to deliver real time thunderstorm Information all along the flight and for airport operations. Adverse weather conditions seriously disturb air traffic. Thunderstorms in particular often cause delays - pilots consider these storms among the most hazardous phenomena in air traffic. Thanks to the technologies of WxFUSION GmbH, a solution finally exists. WxFUSION's central mission is to make innovative thunderstorm information accessible to the market. The satellite and radar based technologies allow thunderstorms to be detected, tracked, and forecast for up to one hour. These methods enable greater air traffic safety and efficiency and allow common decision making for all aviation stakeholders. The company also aims to develop new methods to increase the societal applications of this technology.

ESA Business Incubation Centre Bavaria
The ESA BIC Bavaria seeks entrepreneurs using space technologies in a non-space environment. That doesn't mean rocket science, but applies to multiple application fields such as navigation and positioning, communications techniques, Earth observation, materials, processes, signals or robotics.

ESA's Business Incubation Centre Bavaria was launched in 2009 and is since managed by Anwendungszentrum GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen (AZO). ESA BIC Bavaria and its renowned partners - DLR, Airbus Defense and Space, Fraunhofer IIS and Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft Berchtesgadener Land - provide startups with financial and technical support at four branch offices: Oberpfaffenhofen, Ottobrunn, Nürnberg and Berchtesgadener Land.
